ard parliamentary select committee to oversee the Security Intelli-
gence Service. The Intelligence and Security Committee, which os-
tensibly has this function, is established by statute; it cannot look into
day-to-day operational matters, and it meets in secret.
The Inspector-General of Intelligence and Security is required to pro-
vide oversight of the Security Intelligence Service. The Green Party
believes there is a need to broaden the Inspector-General of Intelli-
gence and Security role out to a three-person panel to increase con-
fidence in that position.
The Green Party does not support the bill proceeding.
